In Memoriam

Joe Mac "Ol' Codger" Caldwell

Age 63, of Knoxville, died peacefully Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was a member of Strawberry Plains United Methodist Church. Joe Mac, who touched countless lives, was a well respected Counselor with the Steps House program with several awards and recognition.

Affiliated with AA, he was the Northside Group Area 64 GSR and Archive Chairman. Joe served in various positions within the East Tennessee recovering community as Archives Representative-AA District 50, 57 and Co-Chair 2005 AA Area 64 Assembly. He was also a member of the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.

He was a longtime basketball official, having served in the TSSAA and OVC Conferences. . He was a member of Burlington Lodge #763 F&AM. Joe Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Grace Maxey Caldwell. He is survived by his loving family: daughter and son in law, Traci and Sean Hejna of Powell; son and daughter in law, Greg and Lisa Caldwell of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kristen and Allison Hejna, Lilly and Evan Caldwell; brother, Teddy Caldwell of Chattanooga; nephews, Joshua Caldwell and Jeremy Caldwell; niece, Julia Caldwell; very special friend, Mike Baskerville of Knoxville.

Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Thursday Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Kent Williams officiating. The family and friends will meet Saturday at Eastview Cemetery, Strawberry Plains for a 10:00 A.M. interment service.

The family request memorials may be made to: Steps House, 712 Boggs Ave., Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel www.rosemortuary.com.
