ABOUT US
Steps House, Inc. is a non-profit, 501c3 corporation located in beautiful south
Knoxville, Tennessee. Often called "The Home of Unconditional Love,"
and "A Home for Homeless Veterans" the Steps House was founded on November
21, 1991, by Patrick W. White. Our main office is located at 712 Boggs Avenue in
Knoxville, Tennessee.
HISTORY
Over the last 15 years,
Steps House has opened its doors to thousands of people seeking relief from the
ravages of homelessness and addiction. Steps is well known as a home of recovery
with an emphasis toward helping homeless veterans and alcoholics and
addicts recover from their addictions as well as helping them obtain life skills
for independent living. We utilizes a well trained staff including several state
and nationally licensed counselors in order to provide the best possible
services to those we serve.
AFFILIATES and AWARDS
Steps House, Inc. is currently a member of the National Homeless Coalition and the National Homeless Veterans
Coalition. Steps House serves in an advisory capacity to the Knox County Drug
Court and many other agencies throughout the East Tennessee Area. We also work
closely with the Board of Paroles and Probation and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
We have
received numerous organizational and individual awards for excellence including
an Outstanding Service Award from the Veterans Administration in 2001. Staff
members have been presented with the ETAADAC Lifetime Achievement Award as well
as the ETAADAC Counselor of the Year and Professional of the Year awards..
